The AOC Bone Health Clinic, located in the AOC Building. Sarah Goode, DNP, CRNP, Coordinator of the Bone Health Clinic develops personalized treatment plans to reduce the overall fracture risk, accelerate healing, prevent subsequent fractures and break the fragility cycle.
Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when your body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. 50% of women and 20% of men will break a bone from Osteoporosis. People with osteoporosis are at high risk for fragility fractures, or broken bones from a ground level fall. Common broken bones are the hip, spine, and wrist.
Usually, diagnosis stems from known fragility fracture (broken bone from ground level fall), the surgeon notes poor bone quality or Bone Mineral Density Test. Unfortunately, there are no signs or symptoms of osteoporosis since you cannot feel your bones getting weaker. Some people may notice broken bone from ground level fall, bone pain or even height loss.
