Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic, PC has been notified by the Alabama Department of Public Health we are a health care facility that received products included in a third recall from the New England Compounding Center (NECC). These products have no known association with confirmed meningitis- and have not been proven to be contaminated. The only AOC patients that received any medication from NECC were patients that had a intrathecal pain pump; this included 26 AOC patients.
AOC has reviewed the list of 12,000 products listed in this voluntary recall from NECC. AOC has not purchased the recalled compounded steroid injection medication from NECC, only narcotic medication used in special intrathecal pain pumps. Again we would like reiterate that there were 26 AOC patients that received these narcotic products; none of which have been proven to be contaminated. As a precaution, all of the recalled NECC products have been retained, secured and withheld from use. AOC is in the process of notifying the 26 patients that received narcotic medication. Most of them have already been contacted.
