Orthopaedics is a complex specialty. There are many subspecialties in orthopaedics (sports, spine, joint replacement, just to name a few), and it can be difficult to figure out just who you or your child should see. Pediatric orthopaedics is a unique field within orthopaedics that specializes in infants, children and adolescents. It is important to understand that children are not just “little adults” with the same problems that adults have.
Pediatric orthopaedists undergo additional specific training in the treatment of conditions and injuries in children and adolescents, providing better care for your child. While children are growing, their bodies respond much differently to treatment than adult bodies do. It is critical to understand that what we do to treat a child will affect them for a lifetime.
As a pediatric orthopaedist, my goal is to preserve, restore, and develop the growing muscles and bones through medical, surgical, and physical methods throughout the period of growth and development. I encourage you take these things into consideration when seeking treatment for your child. My goal and promise is to provide the highest quality pediatric orthopaedic care for you and your family.
